How many Smarties do you think you could eat in three minutes with chopsticks? Answer: 'It depends on if you're Chinese or not' (Sam, 8yrs)
According to the Guinness World Records, it's 170. After taking 28 seconds to get secure one Smartie by the chopsticks, it seemed like this was one record that we would not be breaking today, but it was fun trying.
While looking at the Guinness World Records, we decided that there are some world records that we could possibly break. It is certainly a unique fun family activity.
The kids think they could beat the most bananas peeled in easily one minute, because the current record is only two! If you want to break the hot dog record, you only have to eat four in three minutes, including the bread and condiments. No wonder not many brussels sprouts are eaten in one minute. The Ferrero Rocher record is one I pledge to beat. even if it takes years of practice!
We got a good laugh out of some of the unique running records, for example running long knitting and running in superman outfits. I think we could come up with a few unique versions of the running record, and if no one else has done it before, I guess that we would be the winners!

I found out that if you're an individual wanting to attempt a record, it is free to apply (or $700 if you can't wait for 6-12 weeks while your application is being processed). Record-breaking is open to everyone. Only in France would they try to break the record of most people kissing simultaneously.
While the Guinness World Records database has over 40,000 current records, they are always looking for new achievements. Is pulling a car with hooks in your eyelids considered a talent? What would make Dong Changsheng think of that?
What's your special skill or talent, unusual pet or body part? Can you lift more than 96 kg of deadweight with your little finger?
Maybe you can throw a washing machine over 4 metres? (Not last time I tried). Keep practising!
If your idea is accepted, you are sent official Record Guidelines and all the information on how to attempt the record. Success could lead to being published in the next Guinness World Records book or featured on TV. Wouldn't you want the world to see you be the fastest person ever to place eggs in egg cups using your feet?
