If you can open up a box of pasta and boil water, that is all of the skills that you need.

Pasta is a staple in countries all over the world. While I was growing up, we had "homemade" pasta every Sunday and every holiday. Unfortunately, my mother never taught me how to make homemade, so I rely on one pound boxes from the grocery store. At least I can still open up a box and boil water!

A good name-brand of pasta is Clover Valley, which is found at dollar stores and grocery stores. A good name-brand spaghetti sauce is Mid's, however, it is expensive. So, buy Mid's when there are sales. Also, Mid's is hard to find.

You can prepare this recipe with any pasta (except lasagna). All you need are:

1 pound box of pasta (I chose penne)
1 jar of spaghetti sauce (I chose Ragu Old World Style Traditional)
A few tablespoons of oil (I chose vegetable oil)
Parmesan/Romano Cheese to taste
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Red hot pepper flakes to taste

  • In a 2-quart microwavable container, pour in pasta, fill with water and a few tablespoons of oil.

  • Microwave on HIGH for 20 minutes.

  • Drain and place in the container again.

  • In a separate microwavable bowl, pour in spaghetti sauce and warm in the microwave for 5 minutes.

  • After the spaghetti sauce is finished warming, pour over pasta.

  • Mix with cheese, salt, pepper and red hot pepper flakes.

  • Voila!

  • Pasta is good to have in your pantry for whenever you do not really want to cook.

Pasta is healthy. Pasta is on the Mediterranean Diet Food Pyramid, of which, also suggests having two glasses of wine every day. Personally, I am a carb-over and totally think that pasta is healthy. People argue with me and say that protein is where you get your energy from. I disagree and tell people that carbohydrates are where we get our energy from.

Hopefully, you have found this article to be of good use!
