Making tissue flowers is a cheap and fun activity for a rainy day.

Following are instructions on how to make one (or many) of your own. Best of all, they are easy and quick to make.

Once you have finished constructing your flower, why not spray it with your favourite scent and place among your clothes drawers. Maybe long stem flowers artfully placed in a coffee cup, adorning your desk. These flowers can also be made with tissue paper and can be used dress up a present.

For variation in your flowers, try coloured tissues and for a fuller flower, layer more tissues. For a larger flower, use the same technique, but do not cut the tissues in half.

Tissues (Best if they are 2ply)
Wire or thread to hold the flower

1. Get three tissues and place them on top of each other in a stack.

2. Fold this stack in half, cut in half along the fold.

3. Fold the stack of tissues in a concertina fashion, back and forth, about 1cm in width.
4. Fold this in half, place wire or thread in middle of this and tie off.

5. From the middle, gently separate each tissue to plump up the flower.

Finished, you are now the proud owner of a lovely tissue flower.
