How to Keep Children Warm During Winter

Winter time can get extremely cold, so it's important for everyone especially children to wear warm clothes and stay warm during Winter. Sometimes this isn't achievable so read this quick guide to keeping children warm during Winter.

Keep their rooms warm as possible, not overbearingly warm but do not leave any windows open while they're asleep or too much throughout the day, you don't want there to be a chill in the air.

Always bring a jacket/jumper with you if your child and yourself are going out. Sometimes my boys don't want to wear a jacket when we leave the house, so I just bring them one in the car and they always end up asking for their jacket once we have reached our destination.

Limit outside play time, my boys love going outside and playing with the dog and going on the trampoline but in Winter it's just not good for them to go outside every day and play in the cold because they'll get sick. Find fun things for them to do indoors and limit outside play time to about half an hour when the sun is at least out.

Go out and buy new Winter accessories such as socks, mittens, scarves and beanies. Some children don't like wearing scarves and beanies but during Winter it's essential. Go out with them and get them to choose one that they like, try and opt for football colours for boys.

Make sure they have warm pyjamas on every night, put away all the Summer pyjamas like boxer shorts and short sleeve shirts. Go out and buy some button up pyjamas or warm polar fleece pyjamas.

Get out an extra blanket for their beds, during the Summer the boys have light blankets on, during Winter they have a polar fleece blanket and then their regular blanket.

Keeping warm in Winter can be hard, but there is always ways you can get around it, get the house nice and warm by lighting up the fireplace or keeping a small heater on at times throughout the day. Children who are in school just can't afford to be sick, and it's not pleasant for the little ones to have a runny nose either.
