Event:
Maintaining your own beehive not only ensures that your plants get pollinated but will also provide you with a source of honey. The How to Keep Bees workshop held on Sunday 15 November 2020 from 1.30pm – 4pm at Little Sprouts Kitchen Garden at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens gives participants the opportunity to learn how to keep their own bees. This is one of a series of workshops aimed at providing participants with a foundation of good gardening practices.

This workshop will teach participants about the types of bees that can be kept and roles of the various members of the colony - the queen, the drones and the workers. Also covered is the role of the hive, how to extract honey and wax and how to ensure that your bee colony remains pest and disease-free. Another topic covered is how to collect swarms of bees.

If you are interested in taking part click here for the link to book a spot for the workshop. A 10% discount is available for people who purchase 3 or more Kitchen Garden Workshop program tickets. To get the discount, email pamlea.bremer@sa.gov.au for a discount code before you purchase.
