WeekendNotes has 20 Family Passes to the Book Launch of How to Hypnotise a Droid on Saturday 22 July, 2pm-4pm at The Gallery, Thousand Pound Bend to giveaway!

The hilarious book for kids is the first in the series Hectic Electric published by Hardie Grant Egmont.

Referred to by The Age as 'the Creative Everywhere Man' for his spectacular range of 18 companies, the Melbourne personality will launch his first book with actor Stephen Curry and much-loved children's author Sally Rippin at The Gallery in the CBD on Saturday July 22.

With eye-popping illustrations by Wayne Bryant, the new series follows the adventures of Joshie Hectic, a cheeky protagonist who has more than a few tricks up his sleeve when it comes to scaring off his babysitters. But things change upon the arrival of his new babysitter: a droid.

For kids aged 6 years and over, How to Hypnotise a Droid is filled with wit, warmth, and hi-tech crazy. This madcap comedy- adventure is an assured debut from Joshie Lefers, who is set to become the new household name in children's books.

And it's no surprise that the launch for adults and kids will be a super fun affair, since Joshie's premier events company Nice Events runs Nickelodeon Slimefest - illustrator Wayne Bryant will be doing hectically electric portraits of kids (and kid-like adults), there will be awesome kids activities and prizes, hectic cupcakes and complimentary alcohol and coffee for the grown-ups. Joshie and Wayne will also be around to sign books, available for purchase at the launch.

Joshie may be known for his successful business ventures including Pawn & Co and East 9th Brewing Co - but the entrepreneur has a long love of writing, having studied literature at Melbourne University and Professional Writing and Editing at RMIT.

'I've been diagnosed with overgrown-child syndrome so I had the best time ever writing about hypnotising a droid. I love the idea that kids are going to join me on this fantastic adventure.'

Hectic Electric: How to Hypnotise a Droid is available now at Target, Big W, and all good book retailers across Australia and online.
