Guaranteed to lighten up anytime of year, come rain or shine
No matter what time of year it may be, hosting a Hawaiian themed party is certainly guaranteed to be successful. Whilst a Hawaiian party is great for celebrating the summer sun it can also warm up your winter, and bring some sunshine into your life. Hawaiian themed parties are also great for all age groups. Adults will love the cocktails, beach theme and games whilst children will enjoy dressing up and playing with the decorations.
Firstly, decorations are the key essential to capture the Hawaiian theme. You can purchase a range of decorations from any party supplier from basic, colourful flowers to huge inflatable palm tree drink coolers. Ensure that you tell your guests to dress up in Hawaiian grass skirts, holiday shirts, hats and even swimwear if they are feeling brave. Flower leis round the girls' necks, heads and wrists are also a great idea and cheap to buy. Tell everyone to bring a pair of sunglasses too so they all look like they are ready for the beach.
Inflatable toys are brilliant for this type of party and they can be blown up and placed anywhere you like. A good idea is to buy children's inflatables such as sharks, dolphins and beach balls. You can also get some basic decorations like shells to scatter around the tables and a few buckets and spades too. If you live by the coast this will be a bonus, as you will be able to pick up some shells and bits and bobs down the beach.
Simple decorations like colourful table cloths, banners, flowers and themed cups will be perfect. Cardboard palm trees are also a great touch as they look like the real thing as they hang from the ceiling. A children's sandpit will also be good for decoration whilst giving any children who may be at the party a good play area. Even a few pineapples from your local supermarket will work as decorations. Just be creative.
Music at the party will set the scene and make everyone feel as if they have been transported to Hawaii. As well as your normal party music mix, add some Hawaiian style music and The Beach Boys tracks into your playlist. If you have a TV in the same room a good idea is to play a YouTube video of a beach, the sea or surfers whilst the music plays. Hawaiian music playlists can be found all over YouTube, and are great for setting the scene. A simple touch like this can make the atmosphere.
You can host a Hawaiian style party almost anywhere whether you have a garden, a small room or a whole hall. Of course if you are lucky enough to have a pool or hot tub the party will become even more themed, but if you only have a small garden then a BBQ is a great idea. If it is far too cold for a BBQ or you don't have a garden then there are plenty of other options for food. Hawaiian pizzas, Hawaiian rice, ham and pineapple skewers, and shrimp will make a great buffet. Lots of fresh fruit is also popular at Hawaiian parties, which you can prepare the night before.
If you have a large area you can then hire a surfing rodeo for the night online which makes a great party game. However, if you are on a budget then piñatas, limbo and a home coconut shy are great fun for party games.
Last but not least, drinks are the easiest and most creative part of the party. A great idea is to cut coconuts in half, empty the contents and use the shells as cups for cocktails. Cocktails can contain alcohol or just lots of fruit drinks. You can also cut up lots of fresh fruit to put in your drink or place it at the side of the cup. You can then purchase some colourful straws, mini umbrellas and drink away.
