Double Your Annual Leave In 2018
Most of us get an annual leave allowance of 20 days a year and for those of us who work a Monday to Friday job, a long weekend is a good chance to wind down and enjoy some leisure time. But, with a small amount of forward planning, did you know that could score nearly 50 days off in 2018?

Australia Day, Friday 26th January 2018
It's already an automatic 3-day long weekend, no need to take any extra days. But, if you apply for Thursday the 25th and Monday the 29th off, you'll get 5 days off. That's nearly a week!

Adelaide Cup, Monday 12th March 2018
You could take this as a simple 3-day long weekend, or put in for 13 days of leave between the 12th of March and 30th of March to combine it with Easter and get a whopping 24 days off work! You could holiday at home and do Mad March in Adelaide! Or, you could escape the madness and go anywhere else - literally anywhere in the world. Doing this will leave you only a few days of annual leave to see the year out, but wow, what a way to go!

Easter, Friday 30th March to Monday 2nd April 2018
The week prior to Easter and the one following are both 4-day working weeks. Instead of the option above, take 8 days off as leave and you'll end up with a total of 16 days off! 16 days is enough time to go just about anywhere and do just about anything.

ANZAC Day, Wednesday 25th April 2018
It's a public holiday in the middle of the week, but it's not a problem. Work for 2 days, then take the rest of the week off. No worries with getting up early for Dawn Service if you're on annual leave!

Queen's Birthday Holiday, Monday 11th June 2018
Enjoy the 3 days at home, do some gardening - it'll be needing some TLC because you always seem to be away on holidays!

Labour Day, Monday 1st October 2018
After the long cold haul of winter, this is the most longed for long weekend on the calendar. Why not take the Friday off and get 4 days away from the desk?

Christmas Day, Tuesday 25th December 2018, Proclamation Day, Wednesday 26th December 2018 and New Years Day, 2019
If you take the big Adelaide Cup/Easter leave you'll have 2 days left which will give you extra days if you apply for Monday 24th December and Monday 31st December. All you need to do is turn up for 2 days of work in amongst a total of 9 days off. If you take the 8 days off at Easter instead, then apply for December 24th, 27th, 28th and January 2nd, 3rd and 4th off and you get a very lengthy and relaxing 16 days off!

You'll still have one day of leave left, which you can use on that June long weekend - I mean, seriously, who wants to stay at home when you can take a long weekend trip away!

There you have it, you've doubled (and more) your annual leave allowance for 2018. So, grab that leave form and request those dates. Enjoy!
