FREE interactive workshop for people 50 years and over

This December, the popular Cyber Security Workshop series returns with events held in City of Stirling Libraries.

If you are concerned about Cybersecurity, spam and viruses and regularly use Facebook, Skype and Instant Messaging, consider taking part in this FREE, interactive, one-off workshop designed for those aged 50 years and above.

Presented by Umbrella in collaboration with TADWA, Mr. Millman MLA, Office of Multicultural Interests and local city councils, this unique 2-hour workshop will give you the knowledge and vital skills to stay safe when connecting with loved ones over social media.

Under the guidance and instruction of a friendly trainer, you will learn practical strategies to recognise potentially dangerous activities, how to deal with spam, fake news and what to do to avoid identity theft.

Topics of the workshop include:

  • How to create a social media account

  • Basic privacy settings and tools

  • How to set your language preference

  • How to block and ban unwanted contact

  • Password security tips

  • Where to go if you need to report cyberbullying or illegal activity

The workshop topics are easy to understand and relevant to the participants' needs. Language support is available (please state your preferred language when you register).

Participants are required to have a current email address and password. Unfortunately, trainers will be unable to help participants create an email account or recover forgotten passwords (e.g. Gmail/Yahoo) on the day, so please ensure you have these details readily available before you attend.

If you have family and friends who live overseas or interstate, this workshop will help you reconnect and strengthen connections.

The workshop is being held on different dates and at different venues around Perth and you only have to attend one workshop.

It is FREE, however, bookings are essential. Select your preferred date/venue from the list below to make a booking via Eventbrite or contact Henrietta on 9275 4411 or l h.biczi@umbrellacommunitycare.com.

As places are limited, early bookings are advised.
