So your iron has started spitting gunk onto your clothes. Oh no what to do. You could always throw it away and fork out the GDP of a small nation on a new one while adding to landfill - but there is another solution - iron cleaning solution.
In my local supermarket I found three different brands promising to do the job, so I picked the one which had an inbuilt scourer - call me lazy but I didn't want to have to scour the kitchen looking for one that wouldn't scratch my iron plate.
Getting home, I discovered that this is how you clean an iron:
Step 1:
Take a dirty iron.
Step 2:
Smear it with iron cleaner of your choice.
Step 3:
Turn iron on to a low setting. Once the iron cleaner starts to sizzle turn the iron off and scrub, scrub, scrub with a scratch free scourer.
Step 4:
Wipe off all the gunk with a damp cloth.
Step 5:
Sit back and admire your clean iron (and notice the scratches it had on it if your iron was already scratched like mine).
