I'm a big fan of whipped cream, so I'm pretty happy that January 5 is National Whipped Cream Day. I'll admit I have a habit of stealing a bit before I actually put it on anything. It's also the birthday of
Aaron Lapin , who is the creator of Reddi-wip, so you have him to thank for it if you've ever used the product. The day gives you an excuse to try whipped cream on different treats and indulge in various flavors of it without feeling sorry about it in the least.

Make different flavors of whipped cream

You've had regular whipped cream , maybe even made it yourself, but there are so many other mouth-watering flavors that you can make right in your own kitchen. The great thing is that each recipe typically takes minutes to make. You can make Chocolate Whipped Cream by combining whipping cream, sugar and and bittersweet chocolate. If you have coconut milk, vanilla and powdered sugar, you can make Coconut Whipped Cream . To make Cinnamon Whipped Cream , you'll need heavy cream, powdered sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. Another delicious option is Caramel Whipped Cream ; to make the recipe, you'll need salt, heavy cream, sugar and water. Lemon Whipped Cream is a lovely option to make in summer; the ingredients you'll need are sugar, lemon rind, lemon juice and whipping cream. For an extra decadent option, consider making Bourbon Whipped Cream ; you'll need sugar, bourbon, vanilla extract and heavy cream.

Set up a dessert party

What better excuse to make all the aforementioned recipes than to throw a dessert party for your loved ones. Tell them that you'll make the whipped cream recipes if they make the desserts to go with them. Consider it a dessert potluck that will make almost anyone with a sweet tooth quite happy.

Go out for dessert

There are many places across NYC where you can get delicious desserts and top them off with whipped cream. At Lula's Sweet Apothecary , which is located on East 6th Street, you can find a delicious array of ice cream and baked goods. At The Chocolate Room in Brooklyn, there are incredible desserts such as a brownie sundae, banana split, and a chocolate layer cake. Jacques Torres Chocolate on Water Street in Brooklyn is another option; you can get everything from cookies to ice cream cones.

Blend whipped cream and alcohol

For an adult get together, celebrate National Whipped Cream Day on January 5 by having a product that's a blend of alcohol and whipped cream. One option is to have whipped cream inspired Pinnacle Vodka , such as "Cherry Whipped," "Chocolate Whipped," "Orange Whipped," or "Whipped." Another option is to switch it around by using alcohol-infused whipped cream. CREAM makes the product in various flavors such as vanilla, chocolate, cherry and raspberry.

With so many ways to celebrate National Whipped Cream Day on January 5, you may just continue to give in to your love of whipped cream for the rest of the year.
