Sangria is a punch-type of wine that is primarily comprised of fruit juices and also includes chunks of fruit. It's so delicious that it deserves it's own
day, and December 20 is it! If you've never really had sangria, or just really like it, today is the day to get reacquainted with it. You can also use this day as an opportunity to learn facts about the drink, learn some new recipes, and even take a sangria-themed bath. From going out for drinks to buying Sangria lotion, there are a variety of ways to celebrate National Sangria Day while you're in NYC.

Wear your Sangria pride

Before you head out for drinks or make your own at home, put on your Sangria shirt and show your pride. One option is the I Love Sangria Shirt , another is the Got Sangria? Shirt , and a third shirt says Sangria across the front. The first two shirts come in a variety of sizes and colors.

Go out for Sangria

You can't celebrate National Sangria Day on December 20 without having at least one glass of sangria. There are a variety of places across NYC where you can order this delicious drink, but there are two that stand out above the rest. One is Yuca Bar on Avenue A where Sangria is served by the pitcher or by the glass. Another venue is Calle Ocho , which is located in the Excelsior Hotel on West 81st Street. They have white and red varieties with various types such as Fresas, Tropical, and Havana Banana.

Make your own Sangria

Should you decide you would rather make Sangria at home rather than go out for drinks, there are several recipes you can try. One is the Sangria! Sangria! Recipe , which requires a dozen ingredients including Brandy, Triple Sec, Maraschino Cherries, frozen lemonade and orange juice. Another is the White Peach Sangria ; necessary ingredients include peach flavored vodka, dry white wine, green grapes, and white peaches. Perfect for the holidays is the Cranberry Sangria which involves using a variety of ingredients such as cranberry flavored tea bags, two bottles of white wine, dried cranberries, and apple Brandy. You can also try a White Sangria Recipe – it takes only about ten minutes to prepare and a few hours to sit. Some of the ingredients you'll need include raspberries, Spanish wine, apple liqueur, peaches and apples. Another option is to make a Rose Sangria Spritzer , which involves using ingredients such as rose wine, apples, raspberries, and oranges.

Buy a new sangria set

In honor of National Sangria Day, purchase a new Sangria set to use while serving guests. Stop at the Bed, Bath & Beyond on Greenwich Street or Sixth Avenue in NYC and pick up a 7-piece Sangria Glassware Set or stop at Williams-Sonoma to get a glass pitcher. You can also purchase hand-painted Sangria glasses online that are done with a fruit design.

Take a sangria bath

If you're in need of a little relaxation, consider celebrating National Sangria Day in your bathtub. Settle in and take a Sangria-themed bath – light a Raspberry Sangria Candle , use a Sangria Swirl Sugar Scrub and Red Sangria Bath Soap , then finish off with a Pink Sangria Hand and Body Lotion . Put on some music and, of course, take a glass of Sangria with you.

Celebrating National Sangria Day on December 20 is a chance for you to enjoy some good drinks either by yourself or with great friends in NYC. Whether it involves taking a relaxing bath at the end of a long day or enjoying conversation over drinks and tapas at a local restaurant, it's almost sure to be an enjoyable day.
