November is your chance to put the jar down and learn some new recipes, try decadent foods, and learn a few historical facts. By the end of the month, you'll know more about peanut butter than ever before.

Learn the facts

Did you know the first form of peanut butter was actually a peanut paste? It was developed in 1890 by a doctor who wanted his patients who had bad teeth and couldn't chew meat to be able to get more protein. Crunchy peanut butter didn't come around until 1934. To learn even more facts, visit peanutbutterlovers.com and peanut-butter.org.

Buy sweet treats

There are quite a few places around NYC where you can buy some delicious sweet peanut butter treats. Sweet Revenge, located on Carmine Street, offers the "Sweet Revenge" cake which consists of peanut butter cake that has a ganache filling and is covered with peanut butter fudge frosting. Amy's Bread sells large, mouth-watering peanut butter cookies. They have three locations across NYC – on Ninth Avenue in Hell's Kitchen, on Ninth Avenue in the Chelsea Market, and down in The Village on Bleeker Street. Serendipity 3 on 60th Street has a Peanut Butter Frozen Hot Chocolate, a Humble Pie which is a peanut butter pie that has a graham cracker crust, and Peanut Butter ice cream.

Grab a delicious sandwich

Peanut Butter & Co. on Sullivan Street is a haven for anyone who loves peanut butter. There's a whole menu listed with enough peanut butter items to eat one each day for the entire month of November. Some of their sandwiches include the "Peanut Butter BLT™," the "Peanut Butter Cup," and the "Pregnant Lady™." Get dessert while you're there as well. In addition to the peanut butter shakes and smoothies, there's also a variety of other options including peanut butter brownies, the "Death by Peanut Butter™ Sundae," "PB&J Pretzel Sundae™," and peanut butter cookies.

Learn new recipes

If you would rather eat in and learn new peanut butter based recipes, there are certainly plenty to choose from. Allrecipes.com has quite a few including the "No Bake Peanut Butter Pie," "Peanut Butter Cup Cookies," "Peanut Butter Popcorn," and Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies.

Try new uses

In honor of National Peanut Butter Lovers Month in November, learn what else peanut butter can do besides taste delicious. If you get gum stuck in your hair, don't grab the scissors just yet. Take a dollop of peanut butter and massage it into the gum and it will gradually come out. You can also use it to rub on the residue leftover from a price tag and it will take it right off.

With all of the newly learned information about peanut butter, you can indulge in your favorite food for the entire month and still continue into next year.
