National Nude Day is approaching on July 14, which means taking it all off in celebration. If you live in NYC, you already know you have to be careful of people who live across the way and have access to a pair of binoculars. Despite the peepers, you can still

strip down as long as you have a good pair of curtains that stay closed. Whether you want to get naked in private or public, or you're just going to be around others who are, there are several ways to celebrate the day in New York City.
Go to a Nude Beach
If you've always wanted to visit a nude beach, there's quite a few throughout New York and New Jersey. Those who aren't comfortable with whipping off their clothes right away may want to try going to a clothing optional beach. You could start out in a bathing suit, and either stay that way, or take it off a piece at a time as you feel more comfortable. For a list of the nude and clothing optional beaches, you can visit NudistExplorer.com.
Take a Figure Drawing Class
Figure drawing, also known as life drawing, is the act of sketching the body of a live model. When you would rather not be nude yourself, head to a figure drawing class and sketch out someone who is. For an excellent resource of figure drawing classes, visit the site of New York FEW (Figurative Expressive Work). There's a full page of schools, contact information, subway information, registration information, and the times and days they're available.
Spend the Day Naked
Those who would rather not be nude in public can do so in their own home – with, of course, a good pair of curtains that stay closed in order to stay private from peepers. As with the beach, if you feel strange walking around nude all day, even if it is in your own home, start out by wearing underwear and take a piece or two off if you wish. Watch television, cook (wear an apron!), and even clean, and by the end of the day, you may feel even more comfortable with your own body.
Go Skinny Dipping
If you have access to a private swimming pool where no one will see you, strip down and go skinny dipping. It's a different feeling than wearing a bathing suit. You're better off going skinny dipping at night rather than during the day to ensure no one will get a peek at something you don't want anyone seeing.
Love Your Body
Get naked and look at yourself in a mirror. I don't mean point out all the flaws that most people seem to focus on and complain about. Look at your body and compliment yourself, learn to love your flaws and all. A lot of time, the flaws we see aren't what others see. Chances are you're a lot better than you think you are, so use this day to celebrate yourself as well as National Nude Day.
Now that you have all the information you need to celebrate National Nude Day, you can get rid of the clothes you're wearing on July 14, because in honor of the holiday, you won't be needing them.
