When I go out for drink with friends, one of my preferred drinks to order is a margarita. It's an alcoholic drink that's made with a citrus fruit juice or liqueur and is combined with tequila. It's

typically served with salt around the rim of the glass. It's a popular choice for quite a few social drinkers, so it's no wonder that it's been granted its own day. February 22 is National Margarita Day, so grab your shaker and make the drink at home or head out with friends in honor of the day. There's certainly enough ways to celebrate the day in NYC.

Host a margarita night

One of the best ways to celebrate National Margarita Day on February 22 is by hosting a margarita night at your home for family and friends. The day falls on a Wednesday so many have work the next day, but you can at least have one or two before calling it a night. Serve some snacks as well such as cheese and crackers or a vegetable platter.

Wear margarita accessories

On National Margarita Day, deck yourself out in margarita accessories. For those who love earrings, you can wear Margarita Earrings, Margarita Glass Earrings with Salt Rim, or Margarita Charm Earrings. Those who would prefer to wear a necklace can wear the Blue Margarita Drink Silver Charm Necklace. For a more fun look, consider Green Margarita Sunglasses.

Try new recipes

Whether you want a basic margarita or one in a different flavor, there's certainly no shortage of margarita recipes to try. Some other types to make include a Pineapple Margarita, Spicy Grapefruit Margarita, Frozen Strawberry Margarita, Kiwi Margarita, Watermelon Margarita, and a Pomegranate Margarita. With so many to try, there's even more types to try long after National Margarita Day is over.

Make margarita inspired foods

You may know about all the varieties of margaritas, but there are a surprising number of foods that are margarita inspired as well. For dinner or snack options, consider Margarita Chicken or a Margarita Dip. For dessert, two great options are Margarita Ice Cream Sandwiches and Margarita Cake.

Go out for drinks

Going out for margaritas is another one of the best ways to celebrate National Margarita Day on February 22. If you're at a loss about where to go, one of the best places in NYC to check out include El Paso, which has three locations across the city: East 116th Street, Lexington Avenue and East 97th Street. Two additional places worth checking out are Maya on First Avenue and Rosa Mexicano, which has a location on East 18th Street, one on First Avenue, and another on Columbus Avenue.

There's no shortage of ways to participate in National Margarita Day on February 22, so grab a glass and celebrate the day with a good group of friends.
