I'm convinced that a cookie is one of the best little pleasures in life. For all those who feel the same way, you'll be happy to know that October is National Cookie Month. With so many varieties,

it's almost impossible to not find a cookie you love. Even if you're not the greatest baker, there are several ways you can celebrate the month.

Try new cookie recipes

Allrecipes.com has a large variety of cookie recipes to try regardless of your preference. A few you may find especially appealing include the Soft Chocolate Cookies, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, and Peanut Butter Cup Cookies. They take little time to prepare and bake, so you'll have warm cookies coming out of the oven in no time.

Purchase cookies

If you aren't the best baker, purchasing cookies is proably your best bet when you have a cookie craving. In NYC, there are more than enough places to choose from, one of which is the Levain Bakery, which has one location on West 74th and another in Wainscott, NY. They sell several varieties including Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip, Oatmeal Raisin and Chocolate Chip Walnut. Another place is The Cookie Jar, which is located on Forest Avenue in Staten Island. They sell mouth-watering varieties including the Cannoli Cream Cookie, Cherry Chocolate Chip and the Nutella Delight. Check the respective websites for updated varieties as well as their business hours.

Give a gift of cookies

Almost everyone loves cookies, so if you're in the mood to spread a little cheer via baked goods, give a few loved ones the gift of a Cookie of the Month club. One such club, available through Thebestcookie.com, has the option to purchase the gift in increments of three months.

Wear your love of cookies

If you're a fan of chocolate chip cookies and want to show your love of them, the Chocolate Chip Cookies Pilot Hat is a great way to do it. The brown and blue knit hat has a pom pom at the top and covering both ears are little flaps with an image of a large chocolate chip cookie on each.

Learn the history

For something so little, the cookie has quite a big history. It's believed that cookie style cakes were introduced all the way back in 7th Century A. D. in what is now Iran. If you want to learn more about the history of the cookie, check out whatscookingamerica.net, which has a full page of information spanning from the first suspected cookie creation up to present day.

With all of October designated as National Cookie Month, there is more than enough time to bake your way through the month, try out various cookies, give cookie inspired gifts and show your own pride for the sweet little treat. Don't forget the milk!

Why? It's a celebration of one of the best little pleasures
Comments
Oh yes, cookies are some of my family's favorite snacks. Fortunately, my kids love to bake, and one of them even got a cookie recipe book from her brother. She's excitedly been trying out different recipes. Luckily, we're around to test them out, and offer her feedback. We're more than happy to do so, and love acting as her taste testers. We asked her to keep 'em coming, and of course, she's happy to oblige her family. Now, I just need to go to the gym to make sure I don't wind up with a muffin top.

Thanks for the information. Great article. I can't wait to pass on the recipes you included to my little baker. I already know she'll happily use them, and I can't wait to sample the finished cookies.
