Did you ever bite into a gooey, rich chocolatey brownie and feel completely captivated until the last crumb? If you haven't,
December 8 is the perfect day to do it – It's National Brownie Day! And if you have, well, you have an excuse to do it all over again. Whether you buy or make brownies for yourself, give them to others, or you're wearing a brownie on your head, there are a variety of ways to celebrate the day in NYC.
Buy brownies in NYC
There are so many places to buy brownies in NYC, it's just a matter of finding the best places. One great place is
Chocolate Bar , which is located on 8th Avenue. They have regular and spicy brownies – go for the latter if you want a bit of a kick. The next place is
Clinton Street Baking Company on Clinton Street. It can occasionally get quite crowded, but it's worth it. Lastly is the
Fat Witch Bakery . They have flavors such as the "Snow Witch," which is an all white chocolate brownie, the "Red Witch," which includes dry cherries, and the "Java Witch," which includes cappuccino chocolate chips. Your stomach will thank you.
Learn new recipes
I apologize in advance for the next paragraph. I'm not responsible for any drooling caused by the pictures that accompany the recipes, just please don't try to chew the screen. I think I actually gained a pound for each recipe I looked at. But I digress.
For National Brownie Day on December 8, there are a variety of brownie recipes to try. First is the
Chocolate Mint Brownies , which are ideal for the upcoming holidays. They require ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen including eggs, flour, and eggs with the star ingredients being unsweetened chocolate, semisweet chocolate, and peppermint extract. Next are the
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies . Each recipe makes about 32 brownies, and it will take all your willpower to resist eating several of them – they look that good. They take less than an hour from start to finish and require basic ingredients including white sugar, brown sugar, and three types of chocolate. Finish it off with the chocolate drizzle. The final recipe is the
Mile-High Peanut Butter Brownie Pie . It takes a little less than three hours to make and creates about ten servings. It requires using ingredients including Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, creamy peanut butter, chocolate chunk brownie mix, and cream cheese.
Bake brownies as gifts
There's nothing better than sharing the deliciousness of brownies with those who could use a little pick-me-up. Put a few brownies on some plates, wrap them with plastic wrap, tie each one with a ribbon, then make them off at various homes and businesses for your family and friends.
Wear your brownie pride
While you're baking, throw on a brownie themed apron so you don't get dirty. There are a variety of ones to choose from, including the
Brownie Recipe Apron and the
Brownie Anti-Drug Apron . You also want to make sure your hair stays out of your face, so wearing a hat is ideal. One option is the
I Love Brownies Hat , another is the
Brownie Love Hat .
Buy brownie gadgets
If you love baking brownies, certain products are likely going to make your life easier. One is the
Baker's Edge Nonstick Edge Brownie Pan . I'm a fan of the edges on brownies, and the shape of the pan delivers exactly that on each piece rather than only on some of them like what you would get from a typical pan. The other product is the
Non-Stick Slice Solutions Brownie Pan With Lid . How it works is that you pour the batter into the pan and it bakes into pre-sliced squares. When you want to keep them fresh or transport them, put the lid on and they move around easily without dumping brownies all over .
On National Brownie Day on December 8, indulge in one of your favorite desserts and spread the love by passing some along to others. If there's one day when you have an excuse to grab that second brownie, today would be it.
