For many people, Friday the 13th can be either a scary day filled with superstition or just another end to a busy week. So why not use it as an excuse to have a fun themed movie night with your closest friends and family instead?

Tell your guests to come in fancy "bad luck" or "spooky" costumes and have the best seat in the house reserved as a prize for the best-dressed person to sit at while watching the movie/s.

If you're guest list consists of only adults, then be sure to pick up a copy of one, or more of the Friday The 13th franchise, or the horror-comedy film; Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday The Thirteenth. Or failing that, any spooky film's you like or have been wanting to see. However, if there are going the be kids present, help them to choose an age-appropriate film to do with Halloween, or something spooky, such as Scooby-Doo, Hotel Transylvania or Goosebumps etc.

Dust off those Halloween decorations and get some use out of them more than once a year, or look online to find tutorials to make your own leading up to the day and decorate your living room.

If you don't have any decorations and no time to make your own. See if the kids have any toys you could use instead!. Nothing screams a spooky Friday the 13th more than Monster High dolls, Minecraft zombie figures, Disney villains or even plastic dinosaurs. Just use what you have and be creative with how you set them up!

For an extra touch, theme your food too. Whip up your favourite Halloween recipes and cocktails (or mocktails), or take a look online for some insta-worthy ideas.

Most of all, remember to have fun and enjoy your unique movie watching party with the people you love, without breaking the bank.
