When you walk through NYC, there's a good chance you're going to see a pet wearing a coat or outfit. If you're one of the many pet owners who love dressing up their pets or you've wanted to but

haven't done so yet, you have a perfect excuse to do so on Dress Up Your Pet Day on January 14. Whether you're getting your pet primped or buying a new outfit, there's plenty of ways to celebrate the day in NYC.

Get your pet groomed

Before you dress up your pet, make sure they look their best by first getting them groomed. There are many groomer options across NYC, but some of the best include Coco and Toto on W. 51st Street, The Pawlour on 6th Ave in Brooklyn, and Unleashed Spa on Avenue B. Your pet will get washed, a hair trim if necessary, and brushed so his coat will look clean and shiny.

Buy a new outfit

Of course one of the best ways to celebrate Dress Up Your Pet Day is to buy a new outfit for your pet to wear. You can go with a day-to-day but still adorable pet outfit such as the Two Piece Pet Outfit Blouse and Jeans or the Ruffle Pet Sweater. For the New York Giants Fan, put your pet in a themed-harness. Both you and your pet can show off your NYC pride by opting for a New York City Tutu Harness Dog Dress. There's even a Princess Costume for a Hamster or Guinea Pig.

Get a hat

If your pet can't stand costumes, maybe he's better suited for a hat. Some options include the Flower Bear Beanie, a Denim Cowboy Hat, or the William Bowler Hat. Sometimes there's nothing cuter than a pet wearing a hat, but if yours won't let you put one on him, you can at least go to and look at other animals who patiently sit with hats on their head.

Get a new collar

Should your dog prefer a collar rather than an outfit, there are no shortage of pet collars to choose from, especially for NY sports fans. One option is the New York Giants Dog Collar; for baseball fans, there's the New York Mets Collar or a pink New York Yankees Collar. Rangers fans also have an option with the New York Ranges blue pet collar.

Get some new treats

Your pet deserves a treat or two for wearing the new outfit and not trying to rip it apart. There are many adorable dog treats to choose from that are made from natural ingredients including Mini Cannolis Dog Treats, All Natural Mini Muffin Dog Treats, and Cupcakes Pupcakes. For your cat, there are also several options including Sweet Potato and Pumpkin Puree Treats or the Beef Kitty Treats.

On January 14, throw an adorable costume on your pet and take them for a walk around the neighborhood in honor of Dress Up Your Pet Day.
