If you're a fan of beans, you'll be happy to know that Bean Day is on January 6. It seems like one of those days that has no point,

but if you're a fan of the food then consider it an excuse to partake in the day anyway. Whether you're growing beans at home or learning various bean recipes, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the day.

Learn new recipes

If you love beans but aren't aware of many dishes to make with them, there are a variety of recipes to try out that you may have never had before. Spicy Bean Salsa takes only ten minutes of prep time and requires a handful of ingredients including black-eyed peas, black beans, jalapeno peppers and diced tomatoes. Black Bean Hummus is a delicious and easy snack that takes minutes to make. You can start out with black beans and add a variety of spices including cumin, garlic and paprika. A healthy lunch option is Vegan Black Bean Soup. It requires using ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen including black beans, a can of crushed tomatoes, vegetable broth and chili powder. When you have a bunch of chicken left over but aren't sure what to do with it, combine it with white beans and a variety of other ingredients such as green chilis and diced tomatoes to make White Bean Chicken Chili.

Visit restaurants

There are several places across NYC where you can get delicious bean dishes. For rice and beans, head over to Margot Restaurant on Broadway in Washington Heights. Should you have a craving for Baked Beans, go to Fette Sau BBQ on Metropolitan Avenue in Brooklyn for the Burnt End Baked Beans. If you want mouth-watering bean dip, visit Boca Chica on 1st Avenue in the East Village. With so many options, you may have a problem choosing just one.

Wear bean-inspired clothing and accessories

On January 6, show off your love of beans by wearing bean-inspired clothing and accessories. To accessorize, wear Baked Beans Earrings and a Sterling Silver Bean Necklace. You can also wear a Bob the Cool Bean T-shirt.

Start growing beans at home

There's not many places to grow beans outdoors if you live in NYC, but you can grow them inside. You can start out by allowing the seeds to sprout in a jar, then transfer them into a planter. Keep a close eye on them and you'll start growing your own beans in no time.

Try different flavors of beans

There are so many types of beans, some of which you may have never had. One way to try various types of beans all at once is to hold a potluck where each guest brings a dish that's comprised of a different type of bean.

With all the ways to celebrate Bean Day on January 6, you'll be set on bean deliciousness for the rest of the year.
