Burnout rates have risen significantly in the last decade. In 2019, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has included burnout in the international classification of diseases (ICD-11) not because it's a disease but because it is an occupational phenomenon and a major reason why people are seeking medical help.
Burnout syndrome is a consequence of chronic stress in the workplace. Factors include emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation and reduced personal accomplishment. Simply put, you feel exhausted, start to hate your job and feel like you can't do your job well. If you have this, you are showing signs of burnout.
Explore new possibilities and pathways to a better life work balance
Lauren is addressing this burnout syndrome in a new way. And this is the message she feels compelled to share with society. It starts with each individual gaining emotional mastery and taking responsibility for their own professional wellbeing, their self-care.
She believes if you are giving yourself away everywhere, you need to find a way to make you first.
It starts with each of us: burn bright don't burnout.
