How I Broke Up With My Colon is a collection of real-life medical stories, recorded verbatim as told by the people involved. Each story has been illustrated by Nick Seluk, aka The Awkward Yeti (the author of Heart and Brain: Body Language ).

The stories are often bizarre, sometimes educational, and always hilarious. They range from self-inflicted injuries (involving lawnmowers and things stuck in bums) to genetic abnormalities like having multiple spleens and organs arranged in unexpected ways. You might learn some fun new words like "epistaxis" and "anosmia".

There is even an appearance by the gallbladder, the most popular of the Awkward Yeti's anthropomorphic organ characters, especially among people who have had issues with theirs. "It's been a big, big helper!", has become something of a saying in our house.

How I Broke Up With My Colon%% is a fun book of bizarre medical maladies. It's not for the squeamish, but if you're interested in the human body and/or the stupid things people sometimes do to theirs, it's a great read.
