Geelong has some beautiful walking tracks. Today I am highlighting the
Hovells Creek Trail - a walking track from the Grammar School Lagoon (car park) to Lara.
It is a lovely walk, away from highways and main roads - until you get to the highway near Lara. It is peaceful and enjoyable. I have walked along this track on my own and also walked with friends. Either way it is a lovely walking track with lots of interesting things to see along the way.
I started at the Grammar School end of the trail. Here is a view of the yachts moored in the Grammar School Lagoon.

The track meanders beside the Grammar School Lagoon. There are seats and picnic areas along the way. This small sheltered area (top left of the photo) has a few seats inside it.

There's a track winding back
I walked along this track in August. It was a lovely sunny day, and the sky was beautiful. It had been a bit wet leading up to my walk so there was a lot of water laying around.

The track below was fenced off due to flooding
I did see a few birds along the edge of the Grammar School Lagoon:

More of the walking trail:

More of the trail, it is sealed so easy underfoot
There are seats along the trail, for when you start to feel weary:

Take a seat, rest a while
The track was flooded in places. It was easy to get around as there was a small track beside the flooding where you could walk off the track, around the water and back onto the track. My feet stayed dry.

Flooding on the trail
The track follows Hovells Creek:

Keep following the track, and you will walk underneath the Melbourne Road highway (which leads to Geelong).

The bridge over Hovells Creek
Underneath the bridge. I like the pylons and the reflections.

Under the board walk
And here is the start of the trail. I started my walk at the end of the trail, parking at the Grammar School Lagoon car park. All up I walked about 12 kms. in August 2013.

In the beginning
At the end (or start) of the trail there are some barbecues, and covered picnic areas. The walk takes you past the barbecues, up the hill to McLelland Avenue, Lara.

Outdoor entertainment areas
I trust that you have enjoyed walking along the
Hovells Creek Trail with me. It's very pretty and a peaceful walking trail.
