Hot chips, red wine and sunshine. Today was a 10/10.

Hotel Lincoln is a great restaurant and pub on Cardigan Street in Carlton, not far from RMIT or Melbourne University.

I stopped by for lunch around midday today.

Fancier options were available, but I chose a glass of red wine and a bowl of hot chips with gravy.

I picked a good time to go because the pub was nearly empty and my chips were served piping hot and in record speed.

Most wines taste like nail polish remover to me, but this one was actually kind of sweet and fruity though my gravy was even nicer.

This was probably my favourite lunch in a long time.

Hotel Lincoln's Bar menu changes daily, but their A La Carte menu can be viewed here and their weekend lunch menu here.

Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating is available.
