The performance commenced about 6pm, and some instrumental jazz played in the background. Reading from one of the Mills & Boon Blaze series, Nicholas K. Watson started early in the book, and eased us in with short extracts to start with. The room responded with laughter at times, and enjoyed the comments injected when, having missed earlier parts of the narrative, the story sometimes needed context.
There was a short intermission to wet our whistles after about five readings, then things heated up, with some longer, saucier readings. After the cheeky climatic conclusion, there was a chance for Q&A, where a number of pre-written questions were answered from the novel, to much amusement. Overall, some delicious fun post-work on a Wednesday evening.
