Craving popcorn chicken? Needing a chicken schnitzel?
Hot-Star Chicken is a Taiwanese hot chicken treat. Their stores have popped up everywhere. Mostly they are found right beside their store cousin, Gong Cha. On both Elizabeth Street and Swanston Street, you'll find Gong Cha Y to the right and M Kitchen to the left of Hot-Star Chicken. The three musketeers of divine Asian food together.
Taiwanese chicken has also made its face known in the Melbourne food market. Hot-Star has a ridiculously simple menu, which is one of the reasons why I like it. The Large Fried Chicken and Crispy Large Fried Chicken are two of the reasons why it's famous and why you always see people queuing up for their chicken fix.
You have a range of salts to choose from when ordering, including normal, chicken salt, and a special Taiwanese salt blend.
This would be the perfect place to go if you have a sizeable appetite to fill and don't feel like going the full hog with a chicken schnitzel Italian style. The chicken bites are incredibly good value and you can taste and see that it is real chicken. The couple of minutes it takes to wait for your order are definitely worth it.
