is the place to go on Gouger Street for great value and authentic Chinese hot pot dishes. We were wandering around Gouger Street the other day looking for some of the cheap and cheerful lunchtime eats that used to be everywhere on Adelaide's famous restaurant strip. After making it halfway down the street we spotted the $9.80 lunch special sign on their tiny little shop front, near the busy pedestrian crossing in the centre of the strip.

When we headed inside we quickly realised that hot pot dishes and the accompanying selections menu are the big deal here. With some consternation and trepidation we realised we were looking at spending around $40 on lunch but looking at the tables around us we thought 'what the heck' and made our selections.

You begin by selecting either a dry or wet hot pot base and indicating the level of spiciness you'd prefer. Then you get to select your own combo by ticking your selections off from a range of ingredients grouped into price points, from $3.80 to $7.80 each. Each hotpot comes with potato, celery and capsicum included and, believe it or not, the potato in our dry hotpot came in the form of french fries! The vegetables in our selection were crisp and fresh, the beef tender, and the spicy little sausages, while not crispy as described on the menu, were tasty little morsels.

In a win for great value, it turns out the hotpot serving will easily feed four people. So with takeaway containers in hand, we marched out well-fed and with a leftover takeaway dinner for both of us!

There's also a good range of other dishes on offer at , including the classic Chinese dishes on rice as the lunch specials, along with many other authentic vegetable, meat and seafood dishes.

The drinks menu is extensive and you can order still table water for free. You'll need it, even if you order anything just a little bit spicy!

This is a restaurant popular with a young and diverse crowd and, owing to the great value hot pot meals, it's no surprise!

is on Gouger St, opposite the Central Market car park entrance and is open 11.30am - 9.30pm seven days a week.
