With milder weather and cooler evenings upon us, we're craving more comfort foods. One of the best to wrap your lips around is a good 'n' creamy hot chocolate, not the sort you make with powdered stuff from the supermarket, but those made with real chocolate at one of Melbourne's best chocolate hotspots. Here are a couple of my favourites:

Cacao at 52 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda. (They also have stores at Doncaster and the CBD). This place takes its chocolate very seriously. Made with melted, imported Belgian Chocolate and served in a most-generous sized cup, the hot chocolate is rich, velvety and simply divine.

Lindt makes an exquisite hazelnut hot chocolate. You can also choose from the milk chocolate or dark chocolate varieties. Make it a real occasion while soaking up the elegant heritage-listed ambience at the Lindt Chocolat Café at 271 Collins Street. Pop your speakers on, lick your lips and drool here.

One of the most famous movies to highlight the joys of chocolate, and associated pleasures given the luscious Johnny Depp plays a lead role, is Chocolat. You've probably seen it. If not, please do.

This recipe for Mayan Hot Chocolate is similar to the one Vianne (Juliette Binoche) makes in the movie. It should whet the appetite nicely. Hire the movie and wrap your fingers around a steaming mug of it for a sweet, and hopefully romantic, night in.
