Bettina Palmer of Botanique has drawn together 15 artists to promote agriculture at Horti-Couture 2015. The parade will be showcasing wearable art and highlighting the processes by which plant fibres are made into viable and wearable materials. Jewellers, florists, gardeners, paper makers, fibre artists and textile artists will use their skills and talents to create 20 fashion pieces, to be shown at this year's Ekka. With 15 models showing off the botanically themed collection, the event will inspire and amaze show-goers. Included in the parade is a coffee bag creation, decorated with real coffee beans and fresh coffee plant and a dress made from folded chevrons (made from local newspapers), designed by Barbara Bakker. Both dresses will be appearing for the first time at this year's show.

Horti-Couture 2014 saw Landscape Architect, Laura Emmison win first prize in the category "Best Outfit Using Raw Material". Her creation celebrated the beauty of the lotus leaf and the bamboo leaf. The contrasting patterns on these leaves combined to create the visually stunning "Lady Lotus" cocktail dress.

Winning the Grand Prize for "Most Outstanding Creation in Theme" last year was Brisbane-based Robyn Woodrow of Red Zebra Designs with her beautiful design - "Let's Have Us a Garden Wedding". This dress was a simple reflection of the joy of the colours and beauty of a garden in full bloom. It was made from over 3500 artificial flowers, deconstructed and reconstructed, on the base of a charity-store rejected dress. Proceeds from the sale of this dress went to the Beautiful Cancer Charity to help establish a retreat for women undergoing cancer treatment and recovery.

Excited to see what awe-inspiring masterpieces hit the catwalk at Horti-Couture 2015? There will be three parades during the Ekka week - details below.

Saturday August 8th
Wednesday August 12th
Saturday August 15th

All shows will begin at 3pm and will finish at 3.30pm.

Outfits that are not made from raw material will be for sale.
