If you are looking for the ideal summer beachfront restaurant, you can't go past Hortas Mediterranean restaurant. It has the perfect location on the beachfront at Port Noarlunga. The sea makes a great backdrop to this award-winning restaurant and cafe.
Portuguese and Mediterranean-inspired Menu The menu features Portuguese and Mediterranean-inspired dishes, from tapas to a la carte, with a good selection of Fleurieu wines and the ever-delightful Jansz champagne. Options include Chorizo & Prawn Crostini, Crispy Paprika Dusted Squid, Smoked Salmon on Rosti, Potato rosti, with smoked salmon, confit tomato, salad greens & lemon aioli, Poached Chicken Salad, Roast Vegetable Salad, Chicken & Mushroom Pie. Hortas has indoor white tablecloth table service settings and for those preferring al fresco dining, there are sun-soaked balconies to watch the sparkling sea and scuba divers. The superb views also include the Port Noarlunga jetty where anglers and visitors flock.
Seafood Specialty The atmosphere and service at Hortas are convivial and attentive, it must be the sea air that brings out the best in people. Their menu offers a good range of seafood with deluxe seafood platters for the more adventurous, which are also deluxe in price. Before looking at any reviews I ordered the seafood chowder, which was a revelation. The chowder comes with a rustic slice of bread to mop up every drop of this very tasty chowder. The reviews all love this dish, and it deservedly has a fine reputation.
Hortas is a nice place to linger on a summer day, but prides itself on being a mighty fine location all year round, with the sea vista and fresh Mediterranean menu it is worth putting on your itinerary soon.
