Have you ever wondered why all horses celebrate their birthdays on the first day of August? Well, it goes back to the beginning of the racing industry when horses were placed in races according to their age. To make things easier, all horses birthdays were deemed as the first day of August in the year they were born.
The Chidlow Tavern is celebrating all things equine at a
Horse's Birthday fun family day on 1st August 2021 from 11.00 am to 4.00pm. During the day, there will be markets, talks, demonstrations and children's activities. You can also reserve a horse tie-up post, ride to the event or let your best friend enjoy some Horse Birthday Cake.

The aim of the day is to show the diverse amount of horse sports that your family can enjoy as well as presenting an array of equine industries. Horse sports are an enjoyable activity for all ages, whether on a more competitive level or just for fun. You will be shown how to ride, explore and understand alternative horsemanship practices, try new disciplines and ethical treatment of horses and ponies. If you have never ridden a horse before or even come up close to one, this is the day to do so without fear while also be taught the correct way for interaction between you and the horse.
