It's a nice day outside and you're unsure of what to do. You like animals and haven't done anything outdoors for a while but you feel like relaxing. Why not try a spot of horse riding? Horses are unique creatures and make for a great day out. You can even take the kids with you, they'll love it. You can ride down a safe trail and if you're new to equestrianism, instructors can oversee that you're safe. In Sydney, there are several horse riding schools located in various areas. A very common place to ride horses is Centennial Park which contains multiple schools.

The Moore Park Stables Horse Riding School is located opposite Centennial Park. Rides are available for people of all skill levels, from beginner to professional. The rides are from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours long. Individual or group dressage classes are also offered. A 30 minute ride costs $70 per person. The most popular rides are an hour long and are $110 per person on weekends. At all other times, it's $90 for one person, $80 for 2 and $70 for 3-4 people. A 90 minute ride for 5 or more people costs $70 each. Seemingly, it's worth bringing a group of friends or a family to ride the horses at the Moore Park Stables Horse Riding School. Escorted park rides cost $80 per person, whilst pony leads are $50 per person for 30 minutes. If you're looking to give your child a unique birthday party, you can actually have a pony party for $250 per hour with a handler. If your child's favourite animal is a horse, perhaps you could send him or her to a pony camp for $300 for two days. At these camps, all sorts of skills are learned. Lunch and snacks are included and the camps run from 10am to 3pm.

An alternative institution is the Eastside Riding Academy , which is currently running an offer of buy 10 sessions, and receive your 11th free for regular riders. Private 1 hour lessons cost $110 on weekdays and $135 on weekends for riders of all levels. Shared lessons (with one other rider) cost $90 per person per hour and group lessons (with up to 5 people per group) are priced at $80 per person. It is the school's aim to match riding abilities with the group and shared lessons. A 50 minute leisure centennial park ride costs $80 and it is recommended that you book in advance. The Eastside Rider academy also boasts a Junior Rider Club for children to enjoy basic care lessons for horses and ponies as well as horse riding. Priced at $720, the term goes for 9 weeks and lessons are on a Saturday or Sunday. Holiday camps are also available and run from Tuesday to Thursday, 9am – 4pm daily at the cost of $500 per child. If you're interested in treating your child on that one occasion, you might also consider hiring a pony for $55 for half an hour.

The Malabar Riding school offers 30 minute toddler rides at $45, scenic bush & coastal trail rides for $65 per person and private lessons starting from $85 on week days and $95 on weekends. Group tuition is also offered at $65 per person. 2 on 1 private lessons are available for $75 per person. School holiday camps with home cooked snacks are at $150 per day and there are two different types of birthday parties on offer at varying prices, starting from $50 per person. There's the Pony Lead Ride Party and the Trail Ride Party. In addition, for general riding groups of 10 or more people there is currently an offer of 10% off.

Why not try something new or go back to memory lane from when you were a child and loved horses? It's certainly not an ordinary activity and if your kids love horses, you'll give them an adventure they'll never forget. Horse riding is also an interesting idea for a date if you're trying to woo that person. Even if you're just bringing your friends for an outdoor day, it's a peaceful and memorable experience.
