There are several stables that provide horses for you to ride in New York City.

Kensington Stables

One of the most beautiful places to go horseback riding is at Kensington Stables. Located in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, Kensington Stables takes you on trail rides of approximately 3.5 miles. The trails run along the last remaining woodlands area in Brooklyn, as well as Brooklyn's only freshwater lake.

The area has been carefully maintained and protected so that native wildlife, including many types of birds as well as chipmunks, bats, and other species of wildlife can thrive. Rides last one hour. Children are welcome, and you can even request a ground person to assist your child for an additional charge.

Horseback riding offered by the New York Department of Parks

All boroughs except for Manhattan have riding stables in and around different New York Department parks in those areas. In Staten Island, you can find many places to ride. So, take a day off from work and visit one of the other boroughs. Enjoy the scenery in one of the parks from a "horse's-eye view" (well, you'll actually be a little bit higher, but you get the picture).
