From a childhood fantasy of riding the world on the wings of Pegasus to a life time dream of building a business from scratch, owner Noela Dickinson of Horse & Co in Dayboro is living the dream to success. Since moving to the Dayboro area four years ago, Noela could see the need for a business that offered a one-stop and wide range of horsemanship and farm items for the working person.

Firstly, acquiring an old wooden butcher's shop, she opened for business stacked to the brim with new and used tack, supplements, horse jumps, country clothing, footwear for men, women and children, hay chaff, gifts, jewellery and art. A few months ago, Horse & Co moved to new and larger premises at 20 McKenzie Street, which enabled and Horse & Co team of ladies to showcase the merchandise in a more eye-catching way where customers can walk easily around the display sourcing their exact requirements.

Noela is no newbie to the upkeep of horses or their requirements as she owns two beautiful horses; a 16.2 stb gelding named Sox and a 16.3 stb mare named Gyspy, which she rides regularly. Noela began her love of riding horses at age four, going on to compete in show jumping and pony club events as well as mustering work. She also represented the Northern Territory Police in 1993 in jumping at the World Police Equestrian Games in India .

If you are not into horses, there is still plenty of items to entice a visit and if you are like me and prefer to buy in bulk, Horse & Co sell Turmeric in one and five kilo bags. Turmeric contains 4.5% Curcumin , which is a powerful anti-inflammatory ingredient and a very strong antioxidant. Other bulk busy include Apple Cider Vinegar and virgin organic and raw Coconut Oil . Advice from Noela led me to learn that Turmeric and Apple Cider Vinegar have just as many nutritional benefits for horse as it does for humans. Other supplements for horses include Toxin Binder, Oxalate Balance, Magnesium Oxide, Psyllium Husk, Linseed Oil and more. Recipes are on hand to guide you on the correct quality for your horse.

Abundant styles and colours of saddles, bridles and blankets line the walls and floor space. A driveway at the side of the building allows customers to bring their horse to the shop to try on its new saddle prior to purchase. With a second-hand dealer's licence, Noela also trades in second-hand saddles.

Doors open seven days a week starting from 9.00 to 5.00 pm week days and 9.00 to 3.00 weekends. More information about the stock they carry and what they can source for you can be located on their Facebook page . If you have a question for Horse & Co and you cannot get into the business, there is a form under the Contact Us page on their website for you to use, send them an email direct or telephone on 0424 677 393 (042HORSE93).

As Dayboro is only 45 minutes north-west of Brisbane CBD, it is well worth the drive as the area is quite picturesque and full of heritage. Horse & Co is situated in the quaint heritage style corner shops in McKenzie Street and only a short walk from the historic Dayboro Crown Hotel. There is plenty of street parking available outside the shop.
