Whatever you do, don't fall asleep
Following the huge success of both its Adelaide and Melbourne events in 2015, the Horror Movie Campout is coming to Sydney!

The immersive, overnight horror fan's dream will be held in the creepy parklands of Mt Penang on the Central Coast (1 hour out of Sydney) and will run on Saturday the 12th of March from 4:30 pm until 9:30 am March 13.

At the Melbourne Campout nowhere was safe...

The Horror Movie Campout is not for the faint-hearted. It's intensely immersive (read: scary as all hell). Some things you should know, based on my personal experience at the Melbourne campout include:

1) Don't get there too late; if you rock up after 5:30 pm you'll miss the fun festival vibe, performances and possibly some of the food choices.

2) Wear comfortable shoes. My friends and I spent most of the night barefoot because we forgot the golden movie rule: YOU CAN'T OUTRUN MONSTERS IN HEELS!

3) Eat before sundown. Once the movie's started the lines were long and a few food trucks had run out of popular dishes.

4) Bring a torch - since you can't charge your phone and/or camera at the campout, save them for selfies and buy a cheap one from a supermarket or servo.

5) Outside food/alcohol/drugs/generators/items considered dangerous is completely banned from the event. Bags are checked thoroughly and these items won't be given back to you. Beer, wine and cocktails are on sale throughout the night

In addition to the all the best bits of the previous two events, the Sydney event will play host to extra entertainment including:

Live bands and DJ's - so far the line-up includes DJ Rawhide Kid and Aussie rock band The Lazys supported by IVY and Indie band The Moving Stills.

Hidden garden - where the DJ's play and the scare-actors lurk.

The 'Death Chamber' scare maze

The scares will continue after sundown with a massive outdoor cinema showing two feature horror flicks (voted for by campers' via Facebook) and some super freaky short horror films in between. All the while the likes of Freddie, Jason and more will keep lurking...
