Hot or not?
[ADVERT]My rating: hot (for the price and the authentic place)

Horoki Japanese Cafe has been talked about for some time now. It was featured in the Age Cheap Eats 2012 book and a lot of other people have blogged about the place. It is a Japanese place.

They have a weekday lunch special of $14.90 which was cheap and good for me to try everything on the menu. With Shimbashi Soba and noodle bar there is a lot of competition.

I had the iced green tea (I think it was $4 from memory) and the lunch bento which included miso soup from out of a packet, your choice of three dishes, and rice or bread.

I chose the soba salad, the salmon sushi and my favourite Agedashi tofu. The tofu wasn't the best, but I loved the soba salad and the salmon sushi. I'd happily come back for those.

In short: go during the week for their lunch special.
