Hornsby Pool Party

You may have noticed that the
Hornsby Shire Bushland Festival never took place this year. That's because it has been merged with celebrations of the new pool's opening to create a
new event for 2014: the Pool Party.
Held a few months after the real opening (probably to take advantage of the warmer weather, but remember, all the pools are heated, so you can visit anytime) the event will take place on
Saturday November 22. It will start at 10.00am, with some activities running until 7.00pm.
The highlight of the Pool Party for most will probably be the two hours between 10.00am and 12.00pm when there will be heaps of
free experiences to be had at Hornsby Park (out the front of the pool). These include use of the
giant water slide, face painting, rides, henna tattoos and reptile shows.
Food stalls will sell a variety of things to eat and there will also be
musical entertainment. The Royal Australian Navy Jazz Band will perform twice, at 11.00am and 12.30pm, and the
Blue Tongue Brass Band will perform as throughout the day.
Another set of events will take place in the pool complex. These activities are also free, but a booking is required. The first two sessions, from 1.00pm to 3.00pm and 3.30am to 5.30pm, include performances by the
Australian National Synchronised Swimming Team , a pool bombing competition, Aqua Zumba classes, the indoor water slide, an inflatable obstacle course and a dunking machine.
At the last session of the day, running from 6.00pm to 7.30pm there will be a more laidback atmosphere.
At this session you'll find relay races, a dunking machine, music and more. The indoor leisure pool and the water slide will remain open for use too.
The
first release of tickets for these sessions will take place on Friday October 3.
Peats Ferry Road (the Pacific Highway) will be closed for the event.
