So the latest Indian eatery in Melb is located in Fitzroy North and it was time to try it out myself.
All of us we really taken aback by the poor service as we entered the place. We were waiting for someone to ask us '
Can I help you?, as we had a booking, but the waiters kept walking or rushing past and completely ignored us. Finally I just had to ask someone firmly that we had a booking and got to our table.
The decor is simple and not-overdone like many or most other Indian places. It is spacious with tables spread around and some comfy cushions. There is an abundance of youth in the restaurant, which gave it an interesting vibe. They had a projector screening an old Bollywood film.
Someone took our order, and after we got the naan bread on the table, someone else came and they had got the order wrong - so another negative point.
Anyway, we ordered butter chicken (still searching for the best butter chicken place in town), a veggie curry, rice and chai. All good. No complaint once we started eating and really enjoyed the food. Everything was nicely done. The naan was particularly well made, soft and tasty. The chai tea - well, they tried their best, but I am still searching for best spicy Indian chai tea place in Melbourne.
The chef came and asked if everything was okay, which was nice.
Overall, I would recommend this for a nice dining experience with friends or family. It can get noisy, so don't plan on having some serious discussion while dining here. I hope this restaurant will continue to keep its reputation as I hear the owner has another restaurant in country Victoria which is very popular.
