Food, glorious, food! I love it. So an event where food is at the centre and matched with sensational Australian wines is my perfect match for a night out.
Horizon Events is run by a gorgeous mother and daughter team, Debbie and Karina Preston, and I had the opportunity to chat with them recently about what they do and why they do it.
Their passion is infectious for what they do and why they do it. They too love great food, local produce, local wines and generally showcasing what our beautiful country has to offer. Their most recent event was a mushroom feast hosted at a pop up restaurant in South Perth.
Featuring produce from Perth's first oyster mushroom farm, LifeCyckel, the menu featured a range of dishes creatively utilising a mushroom at each stage – including what they tell me was the most divine porcini ice-cream!
Their whole aim is to bring wine and food producers together in one pop up event. And their aim is to get back to a traditional long table setting, where event goers can chat to one another and enjoy a common love of great food.
Their next event is one I have my eye on. A beautiful feast of seafood and great wine. The perfect summer combination.
Under the Sea will be held on November the 5th at a pop up location in South Perth. Karina and Debbie will be sourcing seafood and using this as inspiration for each of the courses, with perfectly matched wine from around Australia.
