Immerse yourself in the wild surroundings of the
Healesville Sanctuary , meet and sample what the
Yarra Valley has to offer with the best beer brewers and small batch cider makers. See the native animals and don't forget to bring your picnic rug, kids, family and friends for a fun day out at the Hop Fest!
This is the first year where Healesville Sanctuary has hosted and curated this local craft beer and cider event, coinciding with the Melbourne Cup Weekend. Giving you the opportunity to head down and explore nature, learn about our native wildlife and tantalise your taste buds with delicious street food!
With two exclusive event spaces and tastings from
Hargreaves Hill ,
Watt's River Brewing ,
Coldstream Brewery , Got Ya Back,
Napoleone ,
St Ronan's Cider and
Cherry Hill Orchards .
Plus, visit the
Chandon 'S' Sparkling Bar, with special guests Chandon pouring their new take on the classic Champagne cocktail.
Complementing the diverse range of beer and cider is a selection of gourmet-style street food, including pulled pork and jackfruit tacos, steamed corn with harissa butter, salt and pepper squid, freshly baked soft pretzels and sticky ribs with hot sauce. The jackfruit tacos and the St Ronan's apple cider went down well!
It was great to explore the sanctuary observing the sleepy koalas, the curious barn owl, the Australian Pelicans and wild Dingos...
The keepers and zoo staff were out and about entertaining the little ones with furry, feathered and scaly friends. There were also loads of outdoor games and entertainment for the whole family!
Event-goers can also enjoy a great live music lineup of talented local musicians and bands. There were also undercover areas where you could take refuge from the sun or rain thanks to the 4 huge tipis set up by Phil and his team at
Tipikata.
All proceeds from Hop Fest will support Zoos Victoria's efforts to save the
Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby from extinction.
Can't wait for next year's Hop Fest!!
