[BREAK]
Easter and the school holidays are looming!

Although school holidays means a break from the routine of uniforms, early starts, packed lunches and homework, the thought of kids under your feet 24/7 can make you feel like you're being flung off the domestic trapeze, hoping there's a net beneath to break the fall. Yes, the school holidays means juggling the competing interests of captive kids. Yes, you'll be doing mental and physical acrobatics and walking the tightrope in your efforts to find interesting things for the kids to do. Yes, the kids need a ring-master and it's usually you. Sound like a circus?

Well, circus it is. "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages…" you're invited to HOOPLA 2014, Australia's premier circus festival, bursting at the seams with astonishing circus acts, sideshow and street theatre all over Darling Harbour during the Easter long weekend, 18-21 April. It's full of fun, hilarity, excitement, dangerous acts, thrills and entertainment for all ages.

[BREAK]
HOOLPA 2014 promises three nights and four days of family friendly fun with a FREE outdoor performance program to keep the kids (big and small) entertained for hours. And that's not all. HOOPLA 2014 is also host to some spectacular indoor shows which are modestly priced (from $5 to $15).

More than 30 events will be staged in amazing circus tents set up around the Darling Harbour precinct including awesome acrobatics, marvellous magic, a tad of tomfoolery and a fistful of fun. Information on all of the events can be found here .

[BREAK]
Here's a taste of what's on:

  • A Simple Space – Gravity and Other Myths. An exciting circus ensemble with a dizzying collection of works and awe-inspiring displays of strength, skill and creativity.
  • Cirque Du Bloke. Nail-biting acrobatics, death-defying stunts and cheeky Australian humour performed to a boisterous soundtrack of classic pub rock anthems.
  • Mada's Marvels. Described as "a one-man menagerie", Adam Mada combines his critically reviewed international cruise ship show with daring and rarely seen acts of conjuring madness. Dangerous, smart and entertaining.
  • Wheel of Steel. Powered only by the artist who leaps, runs and performs an amazing display of fearless acrobatics, the wheel of steel rotates at heart-stopping speeds. A high adrenaline act which will have you on the edge of your seat.
  • Man and Machine. See aerialist Zebastian Hunter perform an aerial act suspended from a crane.
  • Aerial All-Stars. Some of Australia's most talented aerialists will perform an extravaganza of flight using a cloud swing, aerial hoop, trapeze and aerial stirrups. A thrilling aerial display.

  • [BREAK]
Check out the full listing of activities and events here . All outdoor performances are FREE and tickets for indoor performances can be purchased online here .

So, fling yourself off the domestic trapeze, stop the juggling, acrobatics and walking the tightrope, hang up your ring-master's hat and whip. Step right up to HOOPLA 2014 and make the most of the amazing array of events and activities which everyone will enjoy.

It's sure to win you the title of Big Top, not Big Flop.
