The peaceful treatment room at HoneyTusk Eyebrow Studio

A newly opened beauty salon focusing on beautiful eyebrows has recently opened in Darling Street Balmain. Welcome to the HoneyTusk Eyebrow Studio. HoneyTusk has been around for six weeks thus far, and so far things are really promising. Really promising indeed.

Marli (the owner of HoneyTusk) has been focusing on keeping our eyebrows beautiful for the last nine years. Having shaped and tinted many eyebrows in both London and Sydney, Marli decided it was time to focus on eyebrow care in Sydney's Balmain. Marli realised that Balmain was not home to a beauty salon that specialised in eyebrow care, and hence saw a golden opportunity. Therefore the HoneyTusk Eyebrow Studio was born.

Walking into the homely feel of what is already in a village, cosmopolitan suburb made me feel relaxed on the onset. Marli definitely has the right persona and people skills to be in this business. She was really honest with the shape of my eyebrows prior to my treatment. A client care treatment card also needed to be filled in. The moment I laid down on the bed, my hands were washed with a wet towel. Really relaxing.

It only occurred to me that a before shot should have been taken prior to my treatment taking place. It does not matter. My eyebrows prior to the treatment with Marli were quite thick in parts, and rather thin at the ends. I noticed a massive difference in the shape of my eyebrows after the eyebrow shaping experience with Marli. My eyebrows clearly are more balanced. You can see for yourself from the image that Marli took of the top area of my face after the eyebrow shaping experience. This image is below.

My eyebrows after the shaping and tinting experience. I was a little tired after writing all day...

The treatment room was relaxing, and the background music was chilled. Nothing like the type of music you would listen to in many guided meditations. Candles were burning as well.

Then it was time to experience my very first eyebrow tint. Marli's explanations of what to expect was clear and easy to understand. No jargon and no technical explanations.

Marli began the eyebrow tint by applying some vaseline under my eyes. Afterwards a couple of wet pads were applied under my eyes. Then the tinting experience meant I could keep my eyes closed. I was in incredibly good hands. It is obvious that Marli is rather passionate about eyebrows.

My right eye was stinging temporarily. It did not take long and my eyebrows felt fantastic. As I do not wear mascara, my tint is expected to last for five weeks. On the other hand, if I was someone who wore mascara liberally and used baby oil to remove the make up on my eyelids; the tint would last a fortnight. Marli advises that the tint will last a bit longer if the right eye make up remover is used.

I mentioned that I might have a few tears the next day because I had a funeral to attend. I asked Marli if this would affect my tint. Marli's reply: "not at all, your eyelashes will be great. They will be looking sensational." That is re-assuring.

As my tint was setting, I was becoming extremely relaxed. Marli gave me a gentle and rather relaxing hand massage. It is nice to see a beauty therapist do this in the middle of a treatment, instead of walking out the room. If Marli had to leave the room she would tell you. Marli was relaxed. No stress - something of which you will find in many beauty salons; especially the chain stores. The vibe at HoneyTusk was definitely different. Laid back and relaxed yet professional. Marli exudes a lot of self confidence.

Leaving HoneyTusk, I felt like I had been given a new set of eyebrows. It is amazing what a new look does to your face and to your self confidence. Smiles all round. This is even coming from someone who is already quite confident in herself and in her abilities. Definitely an establishment that deserves repeat business.

In addition to focusing on eyebrows, and offering eyebrow tints: HoneyTusk also do ear piercing and waxing of other body parts. Eyelash extensions are also available.

On my way back home, I passed the nearby organic supermarket and ordered some dinner. It was actually awesome to also enjoy a chia, mango and coconut raw delight as I was walking home. The cashier asked me what type of perfume I was wearing. I also mentioned that I have just come out of a beauty salon called HoneyTusk. In response she said to me: "Well that explains that beautiful smell coming from you."
