There's a buzz in the heart of Maylands and it's not just because this thriving little community is a hive of activity. It's not even that some of the best breakfasts and quirkiest eateries are to be found here either. No, just a short hop out of the city is where you'll find "Honey I'm Home", the sweetest little bespoke boutique for all things bee related.
Whilst the shop boasts a wonderful array of award-winning products and innovative gift ideas, these are not the only things that keep customers swarming back for more.

Taste the Difference
The reason might be the queen bee herself. Blaine Campbell has a passion for honey that is not easily matched, but it's her easy affinity and dedication to her customers that shines out. As she guides me through the delicious tasting station, it becomes clear she's an expert in matching people to their perfect honey partners. Within minutes she's found my perfect bachelor in a rich liquid gold Jarrah honey, that looks just like a bottled sunset.

Voice of the Beehive
Listening to her talk about her bees is fascinating, "all my honey will tell you a time and a place, local, seasonal and unique to what the bees are foraging."
Honey I'm Home is very much a family affair. This husband and wife team together with their two kids have nurtured the business from scratch before setting up home in this bright, funky little shop across the tracks.

Treat Yourself
The passion here peeps out from every shelf. Aside from a large range of signature honey varieties that are locally sourced, there are candles, skin care, craft kits and other goodies.
So what is the secret to their success? Part of it must be the dedication of the Campbell clan to produce the very best product. When Honey I'm home isn't winning awards at the Royal Show, they can often be found visiting one of Perth's gourmet food markets.

Keeping it Local
Outside of work, the family is also very active in their own community, whether fundraising for charities or helping to contribute to other small businesses and it's that ethos that helped them collaborate with gelato artisan Mimmo, to create a medal winning ice cream. This honey flavoured gelato with chunks of crushed honeycomb candy is the most delicious thing I have tasted this year.

Something Different
Whilst the kids chill out in their yellow, oversized comfy chairs and read a few books, I peruse the shelves and discover whipped honey with flavours like mulled spice and peanut butter. There are even more exotic offerings, like a jar of honey I pick up infused with black truffle. There's a honey for everyone, Blaine explains, "It can be great for cold meats, or cheese. This one is great for a BBQ, you just have to use your imagination."

Busy as a Bee
The ingenuity she possesses is manifest in the whole month of planned events she has dreamed up for May. Honey month is an epic line-up of events with Naturopaths, Chocolatiers, Chefs and wellness experts, in a whole calendar of honey related talks, family friendly activities and tastings that run throughout the month. Check out the events on offer, then fly by the shop. I promise you'll keep going back. Please just save some ice cream for me. More information on the Honey month event can be found on their website
