Spare Parts Puppet Theatre is kicking off its spectacular 2025 season with Hometown, a brand new puppet musical inspired by a story by Shaun Tan, one of Australia’s most successful graphic novelists!

Brought to life by an award-winning creative team including adapting writers Amberly Cull & Nick Pages Oliver and director Philip Mitchell, Hometown is sure to delight the whole family this summer.

Embark on an epic journey through the eyes of a young girl as she faces a life-altering decision: stay with the family who has lovingly raised her, or venture into the unknown to discover a new world and a family she’s yet to meet.

Hometown weaves a visually stunning tale full of extraordinary creatures, surreal set-pieces, and some seriously awesome puppets designed by Leon Hendroff and built by A Blanck Canvas. The score by Melanie Robinson and sound design by Lee Buddle is also set to transport audiences to this wonderful alien world!

Don't miss this extraordinary tale of connection, belonging, and the power of love to conquer fear and break down prejudices.

Spare Parts Puppet Theatre has been delighting audiences of all ages with its magical puppetry performances since 1981. Hometown is the latest addition to the company's remarkable 40+ year repertoire and takes place from 6 to 25 January at the Ellie Eaton Theatre at Claremont Showgrounds.

Hometown is a story for all ages but perfect for ages 5+. The 50-minute shows are scheduled daily at 10am and 1pm .
