We all assume that Hollwyood movies are all shot in Los Angeles or, in other US cities However, lots of blockbusters have been filmed in different locations around the globe.

If you are wondering if Sydney has also been the backdrop for famous films, well the answer is yes, even though sometimes cinema transforms the reality in a way that we can hardly recognise our city.

Matrix. One of the most famous science fiction movies of all the time was filmed in different Sydney locations, including Moore Park, Chippendale and Redfern.

Mission Impossible: 2. Tom Cruise jumped around Sydney and New South Wales to shoot this action movie that was very popular back in the 2000.

Star Wars Episode II. Even though it's supposed to be in the space and in the future, George Lucas choose Sydney as the place to shot some of the scenes of his epic saga, including Moore Park.

Hollywood is much closer than we all thought, so maybe your neighbourhood will be the next location for a new exciting movie!
