Bondi Junction's wonderful new cafe
holly. at Bondi Junction is the new kid on the block (opened a couple of weeks ago) but already booming with a great vibe. Just a stone's throw away from Westfield Bondi, it is located right up Hollywood avenue.

As one would expect on a warm spring Saturday morning, the cafe was buzzing with activity. Their interiors were fresh, light and airy. The indoor seating was spread across high chairs overlooking the street and regular tables. For those with fur babies or just those who enjoy street seating, they had seats outside as well.

Justin, the owner welcomed our party of 2 and had us seated promptly and got us started with some drinks. Being a warm and bright spring day, I chose to have a mango, banana and coconut milk smoothie and my friend preferred to have their coffee fix for the morning. The smoothie was just perfect for the weather and had just enough sweetness for my taste buds. The tall glass did, however, make me very full.

The menu is simple yet elegant. It offers the staples and some specials that will meet most people's needs. There's options for most dietary requirements including vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose-free diets. Justin offered some advice on the choices on the menu and pointed out that 'holly. oats' have been quite popular as has the dish named 'The Dark Side' which is pumpkin hummus, feta, kale, quinoa, chilli fried eggs and charcoal gluten-free bread. Although 'The Dark Side' sounded delicious, we decided to reserve it for our next visit and went with the smoked salmon dish, avo on toast and 'holly. oats'.

The smoked salmon dish looked exquisite when it arrived. The red exterior of the eggs owing to the picked beetroot eggs, hot smoked salmon on a toasted sourdough, fresh cucumber and mint salad with red wine dressing and labneh looked as good as it tasted.

Not Smashed Avo is their creative name for the avo on toast dish. Chunks of fresh avocado drizzled with lime on rye toast with a side of fresh tomato and salsa verde were served on the plate. Although this seems like a simple dish, it can only be taken to the next level by using the best fresh ingredients and holly. lived up the promise of delivering freshness on the plate.

'holly. oats' also made it to our table and it looked like a plate from heaven. It consisted of a generous serving of oats topped with coconut yoghurt, freeze-dried apple and walnut crumble to the side along with freshly cut mango and blueberries. This was undoubtedly the dish of the day. For the beautiful spring day outside, the freshness of the mango and blueberries coupled with the oats and coconut yoghurt and the texture of the walnut crumble was an outstanding combination. If holly. will take my advice, I would rename this dish to holly. Heavenly Oats. An absolute winner.

The service was great, the food came to the table quickly and each plate was set with perfection in mind. I have no doubt that I'll be back at holly. Bondi soon to try more of their breakfast spread or their lunch spread. Their prices are reasonable and their food delightful.
