The 7th annual Hola Mexico Film Festival comes to Australia this October and November.

The film festival, direct from Los Angeles, will travel to Melbourne (Oct 19 -28 ACMI Cinemas), then head to Sydney (Oct 26 - Nov 4 Event Cinemas George Street) and Adelaide (Nov 9 - 14 Mercury Cinemas) before a last stop in Perth (Nov 15 - 21 Cinema Paradiso).

'Mariachi Gringo' - Hola Mexico Opening Night Film

The celebrated Mariachi Gringo is the opening night film. It stars Shawn Ashmore and features music from famous mariachi singer Lila Downs. An opening night fiesta will follow the film screening at all festival venues. Tickets are available from October 5th for $49.

Other highlights of the 2012 film program include the Australian premiere of Una Vida Mejor (A Better Life), from About a Boy director, Chris Weitz. Mexican actor Demián Bichir was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award for his performance in the film. There is also the political thriller, Los Chidos, which is directed by Mars Volta front man Omar Rodriguez Lopez and For Greater Glory: The True Story of Cristiada, which stars Andy Garcia and Eva Longoria. Burros, the winner of the Best Film at Morelia Film Festival 2010 and Guadalajara Film Festival 2011 is also screening, as well as Miss Bala, which was selected to compete in the 2011 Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film.
