Ole, the 2010 will spice up the cinema at the Dendy Opera Quays and Newtown theatres.

Strap on your sombrero to enter the land of Mayan temples at the eleven day homage to Mexican cinema.

Over ten feature films, six documentaries and anniversary screenings including Solo Dios Sabe (Only God Knows) will project at the biggest Mexican film event in the world.

The Carlos Bolado directed Solo Dios Sabe tells the story of: 'a desperate Brazilian student who accepts a ride from a striking stranger ... as the miles and mutual attraction increase, she learns that their meeting may not have been entirely coincidental.'

The diverse line up is headlined by the Cannes Film Festival Camera d'Or winner Leap Year by Mexican / Australian director Michael Rowe.

According to the website: "This debut film by Australian-born, Mexican transplant Michael Rowe is a deep study on loneliness and pain, in which you will witness a probable breakthrough in cinema."

What goes on behind the curtains of the circus will be explored by documentary: El Circo directed by Aaron Schock. "The Ponce family's hardscrabble circus has lived and performed on the back roads of Mexico since the 19th century. But can their way of life survive into the 21st century?"

The fifth anniversary of the festival will pay tribute to Carlos Carrera one of the best Mexican new wave cinema directors.

The auteur of controversy, love stories, animations and dark tales will come to Australia for the first time to take part in Q&A sessions after the screening of his films including Oscar nominated El Crimen Del Padre Amaro (The Crime Of Father Amaro), starring Gael Garcia Bernal, Ana Claudia Talancon and Damian Alcazar.

"This is a film watched by an entire nation, and one that created a national scandal, dividing the church and the state, the religious and the nonreligious."

The film tells the story of young father Amaro, who meets Amelia, a beautiful 16-year-old girl whose religious devotion soon becomes helplessly entangled in a growing attraction to the new priest. Amelia finds herself quickly following in the footsteps of her mother, Sanjuanera, who has been engaged in a long-time affair with Father Benito.
