While exploring the new Westfield Carindale, the hunger pangs caused by excessive shopping started to kick in. None of the options in the food court tickled my fancy, so we decided to venture into Hog's Breath Cafe.
Hog's Breath is an Australian staple, known for hearty servings of steak, not to mention their infamous curly fries and giant deserts.
Hog's Breath Cafe is located inside the main food court at the Carindale Westfield, but is easily missed as it is tucked away close to the car park.
The new restaurant is decorated with typical Australian memorabilia and a few large hog statues, with great music you can hardly tell you are inside a mall.
Ordering at what is largely a steakhouse is an interesting task for a vegetarian, but there are a few options available including wraps, pasta and salads. The mushroom and avocado salad is flavoursome and filling.
For those in search of a steak, light and traditional cuts are available and come served with fries and a salad or vegetables. The full menu can be seen here.
There is a large range of Australian red and white wines available as well as local and imported beers and a huge range of sweet-sounding cocktails.
As an added incentive to dine at Hogs Breath, you receive a stamp every time you dine and six stamps entitles you to a free frequent diner card, meaning you get 25% of every main meal. Alternatively, the cards can be purchased for $50.
The meal at Hogs Breath Carindale was tasty and the service was good and thorough, though the waitress did try to take my plate while I was still eating.
Hog's Breath is located directly below the cinemas and is also a great place for a pre-movie dinner.
