Treat yourself to lunch or dinner at this new franchise
Hog's Breath Cafe is a franchise that offers a good selection of meals with several signature dishes. They have over 80 cafes around Australia and New Zealand. One of their signature dishes is their "curly" chips, which look "quaint" when served in a bowl with a meal.
This particular franchise has only been open for a few months and it is on the outside of Coventry Village in Walter Road, Morley, shop number 3A. They have seating both inside, as well as outside the cafe.
I have been to a Hog's Breath Cafe before and remember having a difficult time choosing from their many dishes available at both lunch and dinner time. This time was no exception, and in the end, I thought it would be easier to just choose from their special $9.90 lunch menu. There were only about 10 items on this, unlike their diverse larger menu.
Lunchtime - Monday to Friday
Their general menu consists of food from mega-sized cuts of slow-cooked prime rib steaks, to grilled salmon or sensational salads. They are open here from 11:30 am from Monday till Wednesday. From Thursday through until Sunday, they open even earlier at 8:30 am for breakfast. An added bonus for families is that children eat free here from Monday to Friday.
This franchise strives to offer the best food and service around in a fun, casual and upbeat atmosphere. I believe they have achieved the majority of these qualities in their new Morley cafe. It was an early weekday lunchtime when we went, and I was surprised that there were quite a few people in this very large cafe.
We were greeted in a friendly and prompt manner on our arrival and shown to a seat overlooking the pathways where we could watch the people amble by! Serving us this day was Jamal, who offered us drinks fairly soon after we were seated.

I did not want a huge meal, which is another reason I chose the $9.90 lunch special and I ended up ordering the grilled Caesar wrap. This came with either sweet potato wedges or their signature curly chips. I chose the sweet potato and my friend chose the curly chips and we shared!

The wrap had heaps of chicken in it and I was battling to eat the whole meal. There were plenty of chips served in a quaint metal basket and I think I preferred the sweet potato wedges.

My friend ordered the beer battered whiting, which was served in with the curly chips. This looked to be a smaller meal, however, my friend assured me it was quite enough. There were two thick pieces of whiting in amongst the curly chips.

The service was friendly, with a waitress actually asking if we would like our plates taken away when we were finished. Normally at most restaurants and cafes, they simply take them. I have even had many experiences where I have had to stop them as I wasn't quite finished!
They are one of the few cafes that do "split billing" which is a good idea as most people split the bill when they eat out. Many people object to paying for part of someone else's meal, so this was a pleasant change.
I was also impressed that they accept American Express, which so many cafes do not here in Perth.
All in all, this new cafe gets the "thumbs up" from me, and is highly recommended.
